A Few Comments Received

Hi,
Thank you for letting us know, obviously we are very disappointed that you are not able to run our party on April 11th. We wish you all the best, it seems crazy that they would make things so difficult for someone who had the initiative to get up and do something to make a living. We had a great time at the lasertag party you hosted for us last year and the many other parties my sons have attended.
Good luck in the future.
Thanks

That just stinks!!!!!!!!

I hope this gets resolved in your favor really soon.

That's such a shame Stuart.  Small businesses need help and encouragement and this is disappointing for all Bermuda kids.  Hope to see you back in the field soon.

the boys were sad to  hear  this.

LaserTag In Bermuda's Parks

Good Day Everyone,

Triangle Connections (LaserTagBermuda.Com) will not be hosting ANY LaserTag Games for the foreseeable future. All Games booked for April & May 2009 will not be hosted by us.

Check with laserquest@northrock.bm, your party can still happen while Triangle Connections is shut down.

Without access to Bermuda’s Parks, it does not seem fair to me that some people can play, but others cannot based solely on the amount of land they have or have access too or do not. I have received two emails this week stating that the Parks are off-limits and they are not giving out permits or approval for LaserTag Parties.

Since the payroll tax period for the first quarter of 2009 is now (March 31, 2009) this is the time to call it a day, or at least until I can secure a playing location that will not force a large rate increase.

My 'boy' is off the island for a few weeks, and I have a major project on my day job, that objective may prove difficult to overcome.

Please check back from time to time as things may change that will allow Outdoor LaserTag to continue.

Thanks to the hundreds of players for your support and interest in Outdoor LaserTag, I hope we will be back sooner, rather than later.

Thanks for your support

Stuart

LaserTag In Parks

  • Mood:
  • Music:
Because the question is asked; Why?

I still have not heard back from the Parks department on use of Bermuda's parks for LaserTag.
Until such time, I will not run a LaserTag Game at any park listed by the Parks Department.

What Triangle Connections charge per game does not cover the investment costs nor spare parts. It definitely does not cover court or lawyer cost.

This is a hobby of mine, it's something I like to do and want to share with the people of BDA.

Please do not email saying that 'Someone says it is OK', that's not how things work.

Places that are off-limits are as follows at this date & time:

Arboretum, Fort Scaur, and Spittal Pond

I will add the following two locations: Clearwater Park & Fort Hamilton.

There may be more National Parks around that I do not know about, so please call the Parks dept. and get a permit before booking a game.

Send a copy of the permit to info@lasertagbermuda.com

The Law is the Law.

Email from the Parks Dept. received on February 18, 2009.

The Bermuda National Park Regulations 1988

Section 3 ( l )  states: No person shall, in any protected area – practice gymnastics play or prepare to play any game or promote or take part in any sport entertainment…other than in a place where such activities are by notice displayed thereon or in the vicinity thereto declared to be permitted.

Section 8 ( b ) which stated: No person shall in any protected area, except under the authority of or in accordance with the terms and conditions of a written permit granted to him by the Director –  ( b ) solicit or demand gifts, money, goods or services.

We have looked at your website and there are three places identified under the jurisdiction of the 1986 Bermuda National Parks Act that you promote as venues: Arboretum, Fort Scaur, and Spittal Pond.

Therefore the Department of Parks request that you cease operation of your laser tag business within the parks and nature reserves as no permit and approval has been granted for your operation.

Spittal Pond - Off Limits

Feb 14th, 09. The police showed up for the first time in 09. Didn't take long for the first call to be made.

At times like this I wonder if doing something positive and safe is worth the hassles.....
Maybe it's time to sell my gear.... Not going to happen...yet.

lol, i'm going to sleep now..

3 Months

Triangle Connections has been officially in business for three months today. It's been a very good 3 months. Not only for a 'Start-up', new players have been coming and we have had a couple of Corporate parties, with a couple more due to happen.

Weapons: Down to 15/17 working guns. Just about all the pistols have malfunctioned and been stripped of parts. To much cash invested not to send them back for repair. I don't really feel like dealing with customs. It's like they only know about stuff up to the year 19'before technology arrived'.

Might just buy more to make my life easier. Repairs to 3 S-7s will bring the armory up to 20.

Flying out to the UK today, so no lasertag until Aug 16th. Got a lot of work to do, only a week to do it. If I'm on top of my game, I'll get done early and may be able to find a game before I leave.

At least I got weekday employment, which leads to,

XL finally LAID OFF a few employees, 47, to be exact. I mention this because I was once employed there myself. It's funny, no, not the layoffs, during my last 12-18 months as a 'valued' employee, I had to think of a reason to get out of bed. Always had one, the same one all the time. No regrets that's for sure.  I still have nightmares. lol. BUT, (playing the 'What If' game), if I'd stayed and been one of the 'chosen', would I had found another job? Or just run this thing full time?

With a 3-Man bunker set on island, now would be the time to go full time.

CUP MATCH JULY 31 - AUG 1 2008
Game: Draw
Cup Holders: St. George's

Changes Coming

The web site is not working, I did spend time thinking about the layout and checked lots of laser tag web sites. I thought it had everything, yah, it could use a few updates here and there, it's coming.

Decided  to withdraw the scoring system from general games as of today, right now. That will only be in use for tournaments or special events.

I finally found the right bunker supplier, been a long time, but it was worth the wait. I hope.
Red Dot Sights, picking them up tomorrow morning, got enough to equip 16 more S-7'TE's. This will improve game play.

Da it.

New Yahoo Group

I've been spending vasts amounts of time thinking of ways to do stuff on my web site. Not being a web developer, I only come up with ideas then I don't call my web guy to put in the changes.

Then it came to me, why not use web tools that already do whet I want? So, I went back to yahoo, where I have a group but never used it. Now is the time.

The yahoo group name is:

TAGBDA

This will be the place to get updates on what's being planned, polls, and just to talk about lasertag, both in Bermuda and elsewhere. Oh, and photos. My current web site where I post photos is a piece of crap. May be why I now use www.veoh.com. Do a search on Lasertag for slide shows and videos of lasertag games played in Bermuda.

Take a minute to sign up and add your details to the contact database. Take the polls as well, that way be able to get an idea of what player want and when they want whatever it is that they want.

If you have played recently, you know I'm now bringing out the scoring system and custom configs for the weapons loadouts. Last night I used the new 'Fire Rate' setting, '3 round bursts'. This means you can put the trigger and 3 rounds will be fired. This setting will remove any advantage full auto gives, plus improves on single fire mode. We have also increased the use of the Medic box. Now this thing has caused a few 'wtf's. When I first used it, it would give a player one hit point back. With the new S-7's, it now resets the weapon. This is called respawns, they cost points in some games, so they have to be used carefully. This weekend games the Ammo box will be coming into play.

I'll be reducing the full auto/unlimited ammo games and increasing limited ammo and reloads. Getting players ready for tournaments and L.A.R.Ps

So visit the yahoo group and join in. We need as many fighters as possible..

Until next time....

A new Laptop, finally the scoring system is up and running.
POV digital recorder, why just take pictures, when you can create video.
Created a video channel on veoh.com, seems to work ok.
If you want to see a Lasertag game in progress, check it out, we got slide shows and POV clips. More coming soon.

Until next time......

August 30, 2006

Again, it's been a long time between posts.

Let's get up to date:

Attended NW TagFest in July have lots of fun and played some good games. This year, being the 2nd time I've played in the US, I thought I played pretty good. Pictures are here.

I found out that I was playing with some of the best lasertaggers in the US. I got in a few good hits and made them pay for each victory. Sometimes your team can lose a game, but still be succefull just taking out the other teams best player.

I'm about to get into mods, I have a 'Shotgun' mod for the TMB which transforms the TMB rocket into a shotgun. Haven't done it yet.

The S-7 I got is a great weapon, too bad I only have one. Might get more, might not. I had a chance to meet a few more players in the lasertag business and see their gear. For all you folks into lasertag, Hasbro has some really nice guns coming out soon, plaese be on the look out. The TMB's are great weapons, but due to low sales got cancelled, let's hope this does not happen again. I was only able to get two, plus thanks to NW TagFest was able to pickup two more.

David from 1SourceLaserTag and I are testing coverings for the paintball bunkers, looks promising so far and I'll be putting my solution to the test soon.

Been busy for the last month setting up a lasertag tournament, the 1st in BDA. Getting close, just waiting for the TMB's to come in. Time is running out, and daylight hours are getting shorter.

Got a 2nd game (paying customers) coming up next week, should be fun. I might even play a round or two. Each game hopefully leads to more games and paying clients.

All my gear is still in the box from the NW Tagfest, so everthing has to be charged up and tested. Finding time for lasertag, plus working full time is proving to be more difficult than I thought.

Until next time....

Tag em all, let the Game Master sort it out..

May 30, 2006

Picked up my paintbal bunkers today. So much for quick service. Thanks to the  customs people and dock workers for clearing my two boxes.

More on the Tag Party:
Well we got there a about 10 minutes late, traffic was kind of heavy coming out of St. George. As soon as we got there, and started unloading the car, the questions started, - "Are you the LaserTag guy?" Not a bad begining, everyone was ready to play.

With the new AWS systems, I did run into a few setup issuses, nothing that I could not handle.

First game was a LMS ( Last Man standing).  A few kids had played lasertag before, not like my version,  didn't look like it helped any.

After a couple of warm up games, the scenario games started. Now that was interesting. I had all my gear out for this. G36's, MP5's, Pistols, ammo and medic boxes, plus the Scorpion II Grenades for the first time.

Attack and Defend:

Setup: One team defending and the other attacking. Each team had one grenade, it was fun to watch the players run and warn each other when one came flying in.

Later in the night (much later than I thought) a second game was setup. This time I played and bought out the S-7. The host invited a few friends to have a night game, so I teamed with the remaining party kids against the adults. 4 of us and 5 of them. Seemed fair to me.

First game the host cheated by climbing in a window and getting behind my team. We had them beat up to that point. The second game was not so easy for the adult team. This game dragged on to much for my liking so I pressed the attack, leaving the team as backup. I personally knocked out one player and put a hurting on at least two others. My sacrifice allowed my team to win the final game, 5 kills to one. Not a bad game.

Messed up my web site a little tonight, F%*& me.

Until next time....
